Monstrance and Crown

December 2025

Praise be Jesus Christ, now and forever!  Praise be His Most Glorious Name.  Praise Him- King of Kings, Lord of Lords.

Thank You, God, for all Thy benefits.  Thank You for being available to us here on earth.  Thank You for Your provision and presence.  Thank You for Holy Mother Church, the Sacraments, and the sacramentals.  Thank You!

I am sorry, Lord, for my stubbornness, forgetfulness, and short-sightedness.  Forgive me, God, for those moments I forget that You are God and I am not.  Forgive me, Lord.

I have been so blessed this year to be able to sit in the very Presence of God weekly in Adoration.  Many days I sit in front of Him and pour out my heart like water in His presence. (Lam 2:19)  It almost seems as if I am just constantly pounding the monstrance with my worries and anxieties.  I often think about the power that radiates from the monstrance, but seldom about all that I bring to Him in Adoration.

For several months, I can almost imagine all that I pour out blasting to the monstrance, pounding the gold until it bends away from me.  It is an image that I have difficulty describing, but I will try my best.

We all know that gold is a soft metal.  It bends.  Now imagine the monstrance being bent back.  Jesus, however, does not bend— only the gold.  The gold bends back with each worry or anxiety given to Him.  As the gold bends and remembering Jesus does not, I can imagine that the monstrance has now transformed to a crown.

Is this not just the most beautiful reminder that He is King!  He transforms our problems and difficulties; He emits His glory in return!  I may never see a monstrance or a crown in the same way again.

No wonder when I leave Adoration, I feel so much better.  I have been sitting with the King.  He listens; He comforts: He reigns.

Share how God has revealed Himself to you!  Share how spending time with Him has changed and comforted you. You never know who needs to hear it.
